Position Summary

This role owns the security, compliance, and infrastructure posture of the company's IT environment in support of federal contract work. The primary focus is safeguarding controlled information under NIST 800-171/CMMC, administering identity and security systems, and maintaining servers and network infrastructure. End-user help desk support is a secondary, as-needed responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities — Security & Compliance

  • Implement, maintain, and audit security controls to satisfy NIST 800-171 and CMMC requirements; support ISO 27001 alignment.
  • Develop, document, and enforce IT cybersecurity policies, including access control, configuration management, and data protection procedures.
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor security tooling: firewalls, endpoint/malware detection, SIEM, and log monitoring.
  • Perform continuous monitoring, incident detection/response, and remediation of security events.
  • Maintain and audit secure information systems; produce compliance evidence and support assessments.
  • Position is ON SITE, not remote.


Core Responsibilities — Identity & Infrastructure

  • Administer user authentication on local domain controllers and Azure/Entra Active Directory, including onboarding and offboarding.
  • Perform server maintenance including hardware selection, configuration, deployment, upkeep, and monitoring.
  • Perform network configuration, maintenance, and deployment.
  • Configure and monitor backups, including offsite backup sets and restore validation.
  • Manage IT asset selection, acquisition, deployment, tracking, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Manage software selection, deployment, updates, and license compliance.

Secondary Responsibilities — Support & Coordination

  • Provide help desk support as needed, troubleshooting end-user systems, software, printers, and drivers.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and downtime with affected staff and leadership.
  • Work with the Director of Operations to define IT policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and administrative staff, consultants, and IT vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or a related field; or an Associate's degree with relevant certifications and 3+years of experience; or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4-6 years of IT Experience, including demonstrated hands-on security/compliance work
  • Demonstrated experience implementing NIST 800-171 and/or CMMC controls.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of working independently within a small, collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Ubuntu/Linux administration.
  • Experience with firewalls, SIEM, and endpoint security platforms.
  • Willing and able to attain a Security Clearance; background check required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; punctual and reliable.
  • Customer Support Experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security certification desired (CompTIA Security+); CISSP, CISM, or equivalent preferred.
  • Software development experience is a plus (Python, C#, web technologies).
