We are looking for a UK remote DevOps engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our clients '

Azure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. The Cultural fit is vital for the success of this role. The company's values are

Human; overdeliver; honesty; working collaboratively. If these values resonate with you, then please get in touch with me,

What will you be doing on a day to day basis:

The focus is on hosting and scaling their .NET applications, ensuring they are secure and run reliably for retail customers

around the clock. Automation is key, and tenacity and drive are major aspects of the role. You will work closely with the Head of Technology Delivery and the broader engineering team, provisioning and operating their Azure environment, building and maintaining their deployment pipelines, and keeping the platform observable, secure, and cost-efficient.

You will make active use of AI coding assistants to accelerate infrastructure and automation work. While ownership of the security posture, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response sits with the Head of Technology Delivery, you will play a central role in implementing and maintaining the controls, backups, and monitoring that underpin these, and in supporting incident resolution when issues arise.

The reliability, performance, and efficiency of the platform depend directly on the quality of the work you do, making this a role of significant technical responsibility. The business is a well-funded business with excellent revenues, yet it has only 20 staff, and the opportunity to grow into a dependable leader is a given. At this stage, the role carries no staff responsibility, but as you grow, the opportunity will no doubt follow to add more members.

Responsibilities:

● Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure on Azure using Bicep and Terraform,

following infrastructure-as-code standards and promoting automation across the

team.

● Build and maintain hosting environments for our .NET applications, including

Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Storage Queues/Tables, and Cosmos DB.

● Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment

across all environments.

● Make effective use of AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to accelerate the

creation of pipelines, IaC templates, and automation scripts.

● Monitor infrastructure performance, cost, and security across environments,

troubleshooting issues and flagging risks proactively.

● Implement and maintain the security controls, access controls, patching, and

backup routines defined by the Head of Technology Delivery, and support

disaster recovery and business continuity testing.

● Support incident response for infrastructure and platform issues, carrying out

day-to-day triage and resolution and contributing to post-incident improvements.

● Implement tools for threat detection, vulnerability management, and security

reporting to help mitigate issues and ensure compliance.

● Collaborate with the development team to support application architecture and

deployment best practice, as well as enforcing secure coding standards.

Skills and Experience:

● 5+ years of experience in a DevOps / Cloud Engineering role.

● Strong hands-on experience with Azure cloud services.

● Proficiency in Terraform and Bicep for infrastructure-as-code.

● Experience hosting and supporting .NET applications in production.

● Solid understanding of Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Storage Queues/Tables,

and Cosmos DB.

● Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

● Comfortable using AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to speed up

scripting and pipeline development.

● Security-conscious mindset, able to implement and maintain controls defined by

others and flag gaps.

● A collaborative and pragmatic approach, able to work effectively alongside

developers and communicate infrastructure concepts clearly to non-specialists.

Ideal Qualifications:

● Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).

● HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.

● Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools, eg: Azure Monitor, Application

Insights.

Personal Profile:

● Demonstrates tenacity, perseverance and willingness to 'get the job done'.

● Accountable: lives up to commitments and follows through diligently.

● Problem-solver: proactively diagnoses issues and delivers suitable solutions.

● Can work independently but enjoys being part of a team.

● Willingly shares knowledge with peers and uses own initiative and resources to

gain further expertise.

● Close attention to detail.
