We are seeking an IT Cybersecurity Engineer to join a growing aerospace and defense manufacturer based in a modern, newly built facility on Long Island. This role will play a critical part in protecting the organization's systems, supporting cybersecurity compliance initiatives, and ensuring vulnerabilities are identified, investigated, and remediated effectively.


Reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology, you will be responsible for vulnerability management, security hardening, patch management, and supporting the organization's CMMC Level 2 compliance efforts. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working across multiple technologies, and taking ownership of cybersecurity initiatives from start to finish.

Responsibilities of the IT Cybersecurity Engineer

  • Monitor system security alerts, advisories, and emerging threats from internal and external sources.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning, assessment, and risk analysis using Tanium and other security tools.
  • Investigate, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across enterprise systems and endpoints.
  • Manage and execute enterprise-wide patch management activities.
  • Support the deployment of software updates and security patches following testing and validation.
  • Implement and maintain system configurations aligned with NIST SP 800-171 security controls.
  • Support CMMC Level 2 compliance initiatives, including audit preparation, documentation, and evidence collection.
  • Monitor vulnerability posture, remediation progress, and patch compliance across the organization.
  • Maintain documentation relating to security controls, system configurations, patch cycles, and compliance activities.
  • Provide day-to-day IT support and assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and endpoint-related issues.
  • Support ongoing improvements to the organization's cybersecurity posture and IT service delivery.


Must-Haves of the IT Cybersecurity Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within IT Support, Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, or Vulnerability Management.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows-based environments and enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, patching, endpoint security, and system hardening.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and obtain any required U.S. Government authorizations.


Nice-to-Haves of the IT Cybersecurity Engineer

  • Experience working with Tanium and/or ManageEngine Endpoint Central.
  • Knowledge of CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements.
  • Experience with CrowdStrike, SIEM platforms, or BitSight integrations.
  • Previous experience within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government contracting environments.
  • Exposure to VMware, networking, firewalls, and enterprise security technologies.
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, CySA+, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated environments and cybersecurity compliance programs.
