DevOps Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with a leading technology and consulting organization, is looking for a Senior Consultant – Middleware System Administrator / DevOps Engineer.

Position Summary:

The Senior Consultant will be responsible for administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise middleware environments built on JBoss EAP while also managing Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes. This role will provide hands-on production and staging environment support and work closely with infrastructure, application, security, networking, DevOps, and technology teams. The position will play a critical role in production readiness, upcoming go-live activities, and long-term modernization initiatives.

• Strong hands-on experience administering JBoss EAP 7.x/8.x
• Experience with JBoss standalone and domain modes
• Experience with JBoss clustering and failover
• Azure DevOps administration and CI/CD pipeline management
• Experience with Azure Repos, branching strategies, pull requests, and branch policies
• Release management and deployment automation experience
• Experience with artifact management, environment approvals, and release gates
• Middleware and web server administration experience
• Production support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution experience
• Strong Shell/Bash scripting skills
• Ability to independently manage production and staging environments
• Experience with application deployment using GUI and CLI tools
• Understanding of datasource, JVM, and server configuration management

What the responsibilities are of the right candidate:

• Provision, install, configure, monitor, and administer JBoss EAP environments across development, QA, staging, and production
• Configure and support JBoss clustering and failover to maintain high availability
• Administer and troubleshoot integrations between JBoss, web servers, and enterprise applications
• Manage Azure DevOps integrations with JBoss for automated application deployments
• Manage Azure DevOps workflows, including branching, pull requests, approvals, release tagging, and access controls
• Configure and support Azure Pipelines for automated builds, deployments, testing, artifact management, and environment promotions
• Package and deploy enterprise applications to JBoss using GUI and CLI tools
• Perform post-deployment validation, smoke testing, log analysis, health checks, and performance verification
• Develop rollback procedures, deployment runbooks, operational checklists, and release documentation
• Provide day-to-day middleware administration and production operational support
• Monitor applications and troubleshoot authentication, web server, and JBoss runtime issues
• Plan and execute JBoss upgrades, fix packs, and patching activities
• Perform performance tuning and analyze logs, thread dumps, and heap dumps to identify bottlenecks
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Develop Shell/Bash scripts to automate health checks, deployments, maintenance, and operational tasks
• Monitor system utilization, perform capacity planning, and identify infrastructure bottlenecks
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, application support, and DevOps teams
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base materials
• Provide technical guidance and training to support teams when needed
