Cyber Security Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join an international cybersecurity team supporting a global technology company operating in the smart infrastructure and utility sector. In this client-facing role, you'll work as an integrated member of the customer's security organisation, helping to strengthen and operate security controls across both enterprise IT and OT/IoT environments.

This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position where you'll collaborate with internal security, infrastructure and engineering teams to implement, optimise and maintain cybersecurity solutions. The role combines traditional enterprise security with the protection of connected devices and operational technology, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple technology domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted cybersecurity engineering partner, supporting the implementation and day-to-day operation of security technologies across enterprise IT and OT/IoT environments.
• Deploy, configure and maintain security solutions covering identity and access management, endpoint protection, cloud security and network security.
• Support the protection of connected devices by implementing security controls such as network segmentation, asset visibility, secure device onboarding and patch management.
• Work closely with infrastructure, cloud and engineering teams to translate security requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with SOC and MDR teams to improve detection capabilities, optimise alert quality and enhance monitoring coverage.
• Integrate new systems, devices and log sources into SIEM and monitoring platforms while ensuring accurate data collection and correlation.
• Contribute to identity security initiatives, including privileged access management and non-human identity governance.
• Assist in incident response activities by supporting investigation, containment, remediation and continuous security improvements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and implementation guides.
• Identify security gaps and recommend or implement improvements across IT and OT environments.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of practical experience in cybersecurity engineering with a strong focus on implementing and operating security technologies.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise security solutions including IAM/PAM, EDR/XDR, cloud security (Azure, AWS and/or GCP) and network security technologies.
• Experience securing OT, IoT or other connected-device environments, including asset management, segmentation and secure device lifecycle processes.
• Good understanding of industrial networking concepts and the differences between traditional IT and OT security.
• Previous collaboration with SOC or MDR teams, including alert investigation, detection tuning and monitoring optimisation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently in production environments.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with client stakeholders and technical teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to Have

• Industry certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, Security+ or other recognised cybersecurity credentials.
• Experience with OT security platforms such as Claroty, Dragos or Nozomi Networks.
• Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including IEC 62443.
• Previous experience working in a resident engineer, managed services or customer-embedded security engineering role.
• Knowledge of identity governance, privileged access management or non-human identity security concepts.
• Experience supporting organisations within manufacturing, utilities, industrial automation or other critical infrastructure sectors.
