Founded in 2006 with the mission "To Challenge Complexity", Closer Consulting is a Data Science company specializing in Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence.
Developing projects in the most diverse industries – Banking, Telecommunications, Healthcare, Retail, Energy, Insurance, and Aviation, among others –, we have created an environment where the brightest enquiring minds feel at home, providing our people with the means, opportunities and support they need to thrive and innovate.
We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Control Officer to take on new challenges in a hybrid work model in Porto or Lisbon.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Management & Compliance: Identify, assess, and prioritize cyber risks across the IT project portfolio and production environments, ensuring full alignment with enterprise security policies and international standards (ISO 27001/27005, ISO 31000, NIST CSF).
- Security Architecture & Design: Design end-to-end security architectures (network, application, data, and cloud) that embed controls from inception. Produce security blueprints, reference architectures, and hardened configuration baselines.
- Advisory & Governance: Serve as the primary security advisor to IT delivery teams, product owners, and business units. Translate complex technical security requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
- Review & Assessment: Review security deliverables (risk assessments, threat models, test results, architecture diagrams) provided by security analysts and engineering teams. Conduct independent security assessments and define actionable remediation roadmaps.
- Cloud & Container Security: Lead deep-dive analyses of multi-cloud, IaC, container, and serverless architectures. Define cloud-specific controls, tooling (native CSP, CSPM/CSA, secret management), and secure integration patterns.
- Innovation & AI Integration: Identify gaps in existing security workflows and champion continuous improvement. Leverage AI/ML tools (automated threat intelligence enrichment, anomaly detection, code review assistants) to increase review efficiency and accuracy.
- Culture & Capability Building: Conduct security workshops, training sessions, and Security Champion programs. Contribute to the internal security knowledge base and best-practice documentation.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: CISSP certification is mandatory. Additional certifications (CISA, CCSP, AWS/Azure/GCP Security Specialty) are strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cyber security, including at least 4 years in a security architecture or senior advisory role. Proven track record in securing large-scale, cloud-native environments within banking or financial services.
- Standards & Frameworks: Deep knowledge of ISO/IEC 27000 series, ISO 27005, ISO 31000, and familiarity with NIST CSF or equivalent frameworks.
- Architecture & Cloud: Strong understanding of application, data, and infrastructure architecture (microservices, APIs, container orchestration, Zero Trust networks). Hands-on experience securing AWS, Azure, and/or GCP (IAM, networking, encryption, secure CI/CD pipelines).
- Tooling: Familiarity with vulnerability management, SIEM, DLP, CSPM/CSA, SAST/DAST, and IAM governance tools.
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of investment banking services, regulatory expectations (PSD2, GDPR, PCI DSS), and financial threat landscapes.
- Emerging Tech: Experience evaluating or integrating AI-driven security tools (threat intelligence automation, risk scoring, AI code review assistants).

- English: Fluent / Mastery (Required)
- French: Basic / Notions (Desirable)
Soft Skills & Working Environment
- Experience collaborating effectively across global, cross-functional teams (e.g., Portugal, France, India).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
- Results-driven mindset with strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
