Role
WWU invites applications from exceptional scholars in all areas of computer science, with particular interest in AI and cybersecurity. The role includes:
- Developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, data science, and cybersecurity.
- Conducting and mentoring research.
- Advising students and engaging in community service.
- Supporting department growth, including curriculum development, research initiatives, and lab facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach core, service, and advanced courses in CS, Data Science, or Cybersecurity.
- Develop a strong program of scholarship involving student participation.
- Mentor students and contribute to an equitable and inclusive environment.
- Engage in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 15 non-tenure track instructors.
- Serves over 600 CS majors/pre-majors; up to 1000 students per quarter.
- Offers ABET-accredited B.S. in CS, M.S. in CS, B.S. in Data Science, B.S. in Cyber Security, and B.A. in CS Education.
- Strong interdisciplinary research collaborations and partnerships with regional tech entities (e.g., PNNL, WAV-C, NUWC).
- New 20,000 sq. ft. facility, Kaiser Borsari Hall, with modern classrooms, labs, and student project spaces.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching and scholarship.
- Ability to develop inclusive and equitable learning environments.
- Research expertise, preferably in AI or cybersecurity, with interest in mentoring students.
- Engagement in service and community outreach.
