Technology Owner – Fraud Department

The Technology Owner serves as the technology lead within the Fraud Department, translating fraud investigation and operational requirements into scalable technology solutions. The role owns the technical architecture, data platform, AI solution deployment, cloud infrastructure, and vendor coordination supporting the department's fraud detection capabilities.

Working closely with Fraud Operations, IT, Digital, Security, POS, and external technology partners (e.g. Edvent AI), the Technology Owner ensures that fraud technology solutions are designed, integrated, governed, and operated according to enterprise standards while remaining aligned with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Solution Ownership

  • Own the overall technology roadmap for fraud detection, investigation, and operational platforms.
  • Define the technical architecture for AI-powered fraud detection systems, investigation portals, data platforms, and supporting operational tools.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies that improve fraud detection accuracy, investigation efficiency, and operational scalability.
  • Translate business requirements from Fraud Operations into technical solution designs and implementation roadmaps.

AI Platform & Vendor Management

  • Act as the technology owner for externally developed AI solutions, including computer vision, audio analytics, and machine learning platforms.
  • Review technical designs, deployment plans, release readiness, and production support activities delivered by external vendors.
  • Coordinate acceptance testing, technical governance, and ongoing operational improvements.
  • Monitor vendor performance, cloud resource utilization, and outsourced technology costs.

Cloud & Production Architecture

  • Own production architecture for fraud technology solutions deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Define standards covering:
  • environment separation (Development, Testing, Production)
  • security architecture
  • IAM and access control
  • service account design
  • monitoring and observability
  • deployment architecture
  • operational resilience
  • Coordinate with Infrastructure, Security, and Platform teams to ensure production systems comply with enterprise technology standards.

Data Platform Ownership

  • Define fraud data architecture spanning CCTV, POS, HR, investigation data, video metadata, AI inference outputs, and operational logs.
  • Work with internal application teams (e.g. POS, CCTV, HR, Digital) to establish data specifications, business identifiers, and integration standards that enable reliable downstream analytics through proper data modeling and PK/FK relationships.
  • Ensure fraud analytical datasets are trusted, reusable, and scalable rather than relying on fragile operational workarounds.
  • Oversee the design and evolution of business-ready datasets supporting fraud investigations, dashboards, operational reporting, and AI models.

Fraud Technology Operations

  • Oversee the technical operation of fraud systems including:
  • AI inference services
  • investigation portals
  • data pipelines
  • operational monitoring
  • workflow automation
  • evidence management platforms
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational tooling to increase investigator productivity and reduce manual effort.

Governance & Data Management

  • Support the Fraud Director in managing fraud-related information assets including CCTV footage, video metadata, investigation records, and AI-generated outputs.
  • Coordinate data access, sharing, retention, archival, and lifecycle management with centralized IT and governance teams.
  • Ensure fraud technology solutions comply with enterprise security, privacy, and governance policies.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary technology representative for the Fraud Department when working with IT, Digital, Infrastructure, Security, Data Platform, and external technology vendors.
  • Align technical implementation with business priorities while balancing operational practicality, scalability, maintainability, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance during solution design, procurement, implementation, and production operations.
