Raise is currently hiring an IT Network & Security Tools Support behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The IT Network & Security Tools Support position is responsible for coordinating and executing software maintenance, patch management, and cybersecurity-related operational activities across critical operational technology (OT), industrial control system (ICS), and network environments. The successful candidate will work alongside operational, engineering, cybersecurity, and technology teams to plan, test, schedule, implement, and document software and firmware updates while ensuring maximum system reliability and security. This role requires robust technical knowledge, exceptional organizational skills, and the capability to coordinate multiple maintenance activities across geographically dispersed sites.

Responsibilities

  • Patch & Maintenance Coordination: Plan and coordinate security patching, software upgrades, and maintenance activities across multiple generating stations and operational sites.
  • Risk & Compliance Evaluation: Evaluate software releases, security advisories, firmware updates, and vendor recommendations to determine applicability and implementation requirements based on risk and compliance metrics.
  • Strategy & Planning: Develop patch deployment strategies, schedules, implementation plans, and rollback procedures that balance operational requirements, maintenance windows, and cybersecurity objectives.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform patch validation, testing, and verification activities; document test results and maintain comprehensive technical records, implementation evidence, and change documentation.
  • Field & Team Support: Support field teams during patch deployment, system maintenance, and upgrade activities. Collaborate closely with IT, OT, cybersecurity, engineering, and vendor support teams.
  • Project Contribution: Contribute to projects and initiatives related to network and security tools and technologies (e.g., version upgrades and enhancements).
  • Lifecycle & Vulnerability Management: Assist with system lifecycle management, technology refresh initiatives, vulnerability remediation efforts, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Regulatory Support: Support audit and regulatory requirements by ensuring maintenance activities are properly documented and executed in accordance with established processes, including NERC administrative documentation support.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and operational documentation.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four (4) years of working experience in IT security supporting relevant technical environments, supplemented by relevant product training or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced technical skills in advanced network and systems technologies, including firewalls, Ethernet switches, Windows OS, and Linux-based systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio), specifically leveraging advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience supporting industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA systems, operational technology (OT), or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on experience administering and patching Windows systems, Linux, and network infrastructure systems.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating maintenance activities across multiple sites and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Working knowledge of software deployment, vulnerability management, and patch management best practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulated utility, energy, or critical infrastructure environments (considered an asset).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and regulatory frameworks such as NERC CIP (considered an asset).
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Additional Information

  • Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
  • Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
