Data Center Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to onsite risks and incidents; manage shift turnover, incident queues, media processing, and vendor escorts (40%)
- Execute user stories for data center systems — installs, moves, decommissions, reconfigurations, and power-down events, working with Product/Service Owners and SMEs (20%)
- Contribute to Layer 1 infrastructure design, CI/CD automation, capacity and inventory planning (20%)
- Identify data center components and assess impact of infrastructure changes on on-prem services (10%)
- Improve team documentation and participate in agile ceremonies, demos, and mentoring (10%)
Requirements
- 1-3+ years deploying/maintaining data center environments (new builds or major renovations); 3-5+ years preferred
- Knowledge of copper and fiber (single/multimode) cable plants, indoor/outdoor
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN/SAN, firewalls, Wintel/Lintel/UNIX servers, storage, wireless, DAS
- Working knowledge of EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, and ISO data center/cabling standards
- Bachelor's in CS/CIS/Networking/Telecom or equivalent experience
- Strong written/verbal communication and documentation skills; self-starter, team player
- Data center or networking certifications a plus
