Infrastructure Engineer II

Job Description:

• Cloud NetOps team member
• Build and maintains internal and external networking connectivity within AWS, MAG, GCP, OCI and Equinix Datacenters for Agency users and customers.
• Provide support to senior engineers, maintain testing and development environments.
• Support the implementation of complex projects in DevOps, continuous integration, continuous development, and system operations.
• Expert knowledge with LAN, WAN networking in Cloud and on-prem infrastructure
• Working knowledge of VPNs, Cisco ASR Routers, Nexus Switches, Firewalls, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF
• Working knowledge of various external connectivity solutions such as AWS DirectConnect, MAG, GCP, OCI, ExpressRoute, Equinix Cloud exchange etc.
• Expert knowledge of AWS and MAG networking components such as Transit Gateway, VPCs, NAT gateways, CSRs
• Maintain, operate, and enhance cloud network products including but not limited to:

1. Cloud Network Architectures across and between all CMS cloud enclaves (AWS Commercial, AWS Govcloud, MAG, GCP and OCI)
2. Cloud Network Peering
3. IP Address Management (IPAM)
4. Domain Name Services (DNS)
5. Secure Network Access (VPN)
6. Secure Network Connectivity to other CMS hosting centers (e.g. edge routers, CMSNet handoffs, etc.)

• Any other tasks deemed necessary to support CMS private and public cloud infrastructure

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable experience plus a minimum of 5-6 years in maintaining network infrastructure for large organizations, preferably federal

• Strong Cloud architecture, Datacenter routing, switches, and security background

• Advanced networking certifications such as CCNP and AWS certification is preferred

• Experience designing and troubleshooting networking infrastructure

• Experience supporting Private and Public cloud Networking Services

• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with other Engineer’s for afterhours support

• Assumes on-call responsibilities as needed to ensure SLAs are met

• Performs other duties as assigned
