Senior Cloud Network Engineer

This company operates a large-scale cloud-native platform that supports millions of users across multiple regions. Their Platform Engineering team is responsible for building the networking foundations that enable secure, reliable, and scalable services. They are currently looking for a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to drive cloud networking, service mesh, infrastructure automation, and platform reliability initiatives.

This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, networking, platform engineering, and software development. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency across complex cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud networking infrastructure across AWS and/or GCP environments
• Develop networking solutions that support global and multi-region architectures
• Improve platform reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Automate networking and infrastructure workflows using software engineering best practices
• Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code solutions
• Support the adoption of new cloud platform capabilities and networking technologies
• Collaborate closely with SRE, Security, and Software Engineering teams
• Build internal platforms and tooling that enhance developer productivity
• Reduce operational toil through automation and self-service capabilities
• Participate in production troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis

Required Experience

• Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS, CDN, routing, and load balancing
• Hands-on experience building and operating cloud networking infrastructure in AWS and/or GCP
• Production experience managing Linux and Kubernetes networking environments
• Experience with networking technologies such as Envoy, NGINX, HAProxy, or similar proxies
• Experience operating CDN platforms and managing traffic delivery configurations
• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio
• Proficiency in automation using Go, Python, Bash, or similar programming languages
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience, ideally with Terraform or similar tooling
• Experience producing technical designs and driving architectural decisions
• Experience developing internal engineering tools and platform services
• Experience supporting critical production systems and participating in incident response

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems consisting of hundreds of services
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes networking and service mesh architectures
• Experience designing highly available infrastructure platforms
• Experience building platform APIs, Kubernetes Operators, or control-plane services
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tooling such as Argo CD and GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex
• Passion for improving developer experience and platform usability
