We're looking for a cloud engineer to take the lead on daily cloud operations and grow into a key contributor on our client's CCoE (Cloud Center of Excellence) team, freeing up senior staff to focus on architecture and governance initiatives. You'll join a 12-person team working with colleagues across regions. English is used for all meetings, Slack communication, and documentation.
About the Role
You'll manage day-to-day operations across a multi-cloud footprint (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to improve existing infrastructure and strengthen the team's collective knowledge base.
What You'll Do
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Regularly assess and refine governance frameworks, security controls, and operational standards
- Identify best practices by analyzing usage patterns across the organization's cloud footprint
- Build automation and tooling to streamline CCoE operations
- Turn recurring issues into standardized processes and preventive safeguards
Request Intake & Provisioning
- Evaluate and process incoming requests for new cloud accounts, projects, and subscriptions
- Manage approvals through Jira workflows
- Confirm requests align with governance and security requirements
- Liaise with requesters to clarify details or gather missing information
Infrastructure Configuration
- Handle IAM, networking, storage, and related resource configuration under formal Change Management processes
- Carry out tasks using established runbooks and procedures
- Run pre- and post-implementation checks, log results, and report status via Jira
- Diagnose issues that arise during execution and escalate as needed
User Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal technical questions
- Resolve inquiries using existing FAQs and reference material
- Escalate unresolved cases to senior team members
- Track common questions to help expand and refine support documentation
Knowledge Management
- Write and maintain operational runbooks in Confluence
- Capture and organize institutional knowledge from day-to-day work
- Keep documentation current through periodic review
- Suggest process improvements to support standardization efforts
Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with security, networking, and service teams on technical issues
- Manage support cases and technical discussions with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
- Join regular vendor check-ins to stay current on new offerings and share updates internally
- Facilitate communication across teams during org-wide cloud initiatives
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years hands-on experience managing at least two major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
- Working knowledge of IAM and core networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups)
- Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing systems
- Ability to follow documented procedures precisely
- Foundational troubleshooting ability (log review, root-cause analysis)
- Professional working proficiency in English
Nice-to-Haves
- Associate-level (or higher) certification from a major cloud provider
- Confluence documentation experience
- Exposure to IaC tools like Terraform
- Background in security- and compliance-aware cloud operations
- Prior experience in helpdesk or internal support roles
- Track record of proposing or leading process improvements
- Experience using AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude Code) to boost productivity
