About the Location
Collaborative Work Environment
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.
Onsite Position
This position is considered to be Fully Onsite, work is to be done onsite at a PetSmart location (Phoenix Home Office, PetSmart stores, Merchandise Development Center, Distribution Centers or another PetSmart site).
Field Position
This position is considered Field based and is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Field associates will spend their time both traveling to and spending time in various PetSmart locations and can expect to be asked to travel to Phoenix Home Office periodically throughout the year. Field associates typically work out of their home office when not traveling as outlined above.

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer with 2–3 years of experience to help design, deploy, and support PetSmart cloud services. You will work closely with cloud architects and senior engineers to support, implement and automate cloud solutions, build reusable infrastructure, optimize performance, and maintain cloud environments. This role offers strong growth potential in a collaborative and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure and managed services using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Operate, support, and troubleshoot containerized workloads running on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Monitor system health, performance, and security posture using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, metrics, traces, and alerting.
- Troubleshoot production issues using log correlation, distributed tracing, and performance metrics, contributing to post-incident reviews and detailed post-mortems.
- Support and maintain networking, IAM, and security configurations, following GCP best practices and organizational standards.
- Provide operational support for large-scale, distributed applications, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with application, data, and platform teams to deliver reliable, scalable cloud solutions.
- Contribute to FinOps initiatives, including cloud cost optimization, spend analysis, resource governance, and efficiency improvements.
- Learn, apply, and continuously improve GCP best practices for security, reliability, performance, and cost management.
- 2–3 years professional experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure).
- Experience with automation and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with IaC and CI/CD. (Terraform, Jenkins/Cloudbees, Github Actions).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and basic Kubernetes skills (GKE/CKA).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (VPC, DNS, load balancing, psc, peerings).
- Strong problem-solving ability and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong understanding of cloud fundamentals such as IAM, RBAC, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS
- Experience with monitoring tools (Stackdriver/Google Cloud Operations, cloud trace).
- Cloud certification (GCP Cloud certifications)
