The Cost Optimization Analyst – FinOps is responsible for optimizing cloud spend across hybrid cloud environments by driving financial accountability, cost transparency, and resource efficiency. This role partners with engineering, finance, and business stakeholders to monitor cloud usage, identify cost-saving opportunities, develop forecasting models, and deliver actionable insights.


Responsibilities

  • Manage hybrid cloud spend across public and private cloud environments, including lifecycle management and workload optimization.
  • Monitor cloud costs and usage using Flexera or similar cloud cost management tools, ensuring billing and allocation data is accurate.
  • Analyze cloud consumption and provide recommendations to optimize utilization, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards, utilization reports, and monthly financial reporting for business stakeholders.
  • Build forecasting models to predict cloud spend and support budgeting and financial planning.
  • Partner with engineering, finance & business teams to push financial governance.
  • Lead stakeholder onboarding sessions for cost managers, cost center owners, and business leaders while promoting FinOps best practices.
  • Organize learning sessions to improve cloud financial management across the organization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for to cost optimization, reporting, and governance.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, or Cloud Cost Optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP); experience with AWS is also beneficial.
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools such as Flexera, CloudHealth, Cloudability, or similar platforms; Flexera experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, reserved instances, savings plans, commitment management, and cloud financial governance.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience using SQL, Python, and/or PowerShell for data analysis.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to translate complex cloud usage data into actionable items.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, finance, and executive leadership teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple initiatives, and drive cloud cost optimization efforts with minimal supervision.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
