Solutions Engineer II

The Solutions Engineer II configures and installs network hardware, server hardware, VoIP hardware, and Microsoft 365 infrastructure, while also providing post-installation support to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Document all activities, projects, and tickets daily in the ticketing system as work is performed.
- Hand off in-progress tickets before the end of each shift.
- Create or update IT Glue articles to document new customer findings.
- Perform network and server capacity analysis and planning.
- Install and configure network, server, and VoIP hardware and Microsoft 365 infrastructure following established standards.
- Provide support for client infrastructure and serve as an escalation resource for junior technical staff.
- Build client rapport during onsite assignments through in-person troubleshooting, site walkthroughs, and other client interactions.
- Travel up to 25–50% when assigned to client evaluations and projects.
- Maintain established ticket SLAs as defined by the Manager.
- Maintain established CSAT scores as defined by the Manager.
- Follow established change approval processes.
- Submit the current week's timesheet by the end of shift Friday.
- Be available for on-call weeks and all-hands-on-deck outages.
- Maintain established project timelines.
- Verify and submit relevant documentation updates after projects.
- Ensure all time and expense entries comply with company policy.
- Document notes, meeting minutes, and customer communications in ConnectWise PSA and IT Glue, as appropriate.
- Ticketing software for incident management, time allocation, projects, and opportunities.
- Remote system access, including creating and pushing scripts and running actions.
- Advanced Active Directory knowledge, from domain controllers through user creation.
- Advanced Microsoft Windows/Server knowledge across physical and virtual environments.
- Installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing training for Microsoft services and network equipment.
- Microsoft 365 administration, including user creation and license assignment.
- Advanced enterprise operational support for Microsoft on-premises technologies, including server patching, Exchange patching, and maintenance.
- Advanced network troubleshooting skills, including identifying VLAN, DHCP, DNS, and circuit issues.
- Firmware and patching for servers, storage devices, fabric, networking devices, and workstations, with an understanding of appropriate redundancy when application outages occur.
- Ability to mount and unmount hardware in a datacenter, track down cables, and understand wiring.
- Software as assigned.
- Ability to use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control equipment.
- Ability to talk and hear, see and read, and interpret written documents.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
