A VMware to AWS Elastic VMware Service (EVS) Migration Support Engineer is responsible for helping enterprise customers modernize their on-premises VMware workloads by moving them directly to AWS. The role requires strong fundamentals in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and hybrid cloud networking.

Core Responsibilities

· Migration Execution: Plan, design, and execute large-scale workload migrations from on-premises VMware environments to Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS) using tools like VMware HCX.

· Architecture & Assessment: Conduct deep technical assessments of customer data centers (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN) and design optimized, scalable AWS landing zones.

· Network & Storage Configuration: Set up complex, private network connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN) and storage solutions (Amazon FSx) to support cross-cloud data mobility.

· Customer Support & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex migration blockers, performance issues, and post-migration operational challenges directly with enterprise clients.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside AWS Professional Services and engineering teams to build repeatable migration playbooks and improve cloud modernization tools. [8, 12]

Essential Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

· VMware Expertise: Deep understanding of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vCenter, NSX (Network Virtualization), and vSAN.

· AWS Knowledge: Working knowledge of AWS networking concepts, EC2, Amazon VPC, and hybrid architectures.

· Migration Experience: Hands-on experience with lift-and-shift migrations using VMware HCX or similar cloud mobility tools.

· Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, customer-centric problem solving, and ability to manage multiple enterprise cases simultaneously.

· Preferred Qualifications

· Certifications: Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect or VMware VCAP/VCDX certifications.

· Database/App Experience: Experience supporting migrations for enterprise databases (Oracle, MS SQL) or application platforms.
