Compensation: $70.00- $80.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:

This is a configuration-focused Quality Engineering role supporting a major technology transformation within the healthcare payer space. The Quality Engineer will join a collaborative Scrum team and take ownership of functional, automated, configuration, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing.

The ideal candidate will understand how healthcare payer systems and data interact, collaborate directly with business SMEs to validate real-world healthcare workflows, and build automated regression coverage for system and configuration changes.

Candidates should have strong experience in at least one of the following healthcare payer domains: Provider, Medical Management, Product & Benefits, or Claims. Experience across all four domains is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze requirements and system configurations, design test strategies, debug defects, and maintain functional and automated test coverage for new and existing systems.
  • Work collaboratively on a daily scrum team with a Scrum Master, Product Owner, analysts, Application Development Engineers, and other Quality Engineers to deliver high-quality functionality to production.
  • Work with analysts, business partners, customers, and technical teams to define requirements, test scope, expected outcomes, and acceptance criteria.
  • Take ownership of functional, automated, configuration, integration, regression, UAT, and end-to-end testing.
  • Coordinate UAT and end-to-end testing with business SMEs to validate real-world healthcare workflows and outcomes.
  • Test new healthcare system configurations and build automated regression suites around configuration changes.
  • Validate complex data and data flow across interconnected systems using SQL and other appropriate testing methods.
  • Validate integrations that may involve ETL, orchestration layers, APIs, EDI, batch files, or other system-to-system methods.
  • Support migration and cutover testing, including legacy-to-new-system comparisons, data validation, and phased rollouts
  • Maintain requirements-to-test traceability through final sign-off and appropriately scope regression testing.
  • Coordinate testing activities and defect triage across multiple systems and teams.
  • Communicate testing status, risks, defects, and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Learn the healthcare applications and configuration tools associated with the assigned domain and develop into a subject-matter expert.
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and mentor other team members when appropriate.

Primary Requirements:

  • Approximately 3–4+ years of relevant Quality Engineering or software testing experience
  • Healthcare payer experience with a strong understanding of how healthcare domains, workflows, and systems work together
  • Strong knowledge and experience in at least one of the following healthcare payer domains:
    • Provider
    • Medical Management
    • Product & Benefits
    • Claims
  • Quality Engineering experience that includes both functional testing and test automation
  • Hands-on automation experience using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or a comparable automation framework; experience with one specific framework is not required.
  • Python experience for test automation or scripting
  • Strong SQL experience, including the ability to validate complex and large data sets across systems and integrations
  • QMetry experience
  • Jira and GitLab experience
  • Experience with configuration, integration, regression, UAT, and end-to-end testing
  • Strong understanding of data flow and integrations between interconnected systems
  • Ability to test system configurations and build regression tests and automation suites around configuration changes
  • Experience working directly with business SMEs and technical teams to establish expected outcomes and resolve defects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable independently learning new healthcare applications and becoming a subject-matter expert
  • Ability to work onsite in Eagan, MN, two days per week
  • Interest in a 12+ month contract-to-hire opportunity and the ability to convert to a permanent position

Desired Skills:

  • Postman and API testing experience
  • ETL, orchestration, EDI, batch-file, or other integration-testing experience
