CrossConnect is assisting a client in finding a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate, and scale their Azure-based enterprise data platform. In this role, you will partner closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, and Security teams to build robust CI/CD pipelines and manage automated deployments across Azure services and Databricks workloads. If you bring deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud configuration management, and enterprise data environments, we’d love to connect!
This will be a hybrid position (3 days a week in office) in Overland Park, KS.
Key Responsibilities
- CI/CD & IaC Automation: Design, build, and maintain automated deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions) and manage IaC using Terraform or Bicep across multi-environment setups (Dev to Product)
- Databricks & Data Platform Administration: Support lifecycle management, workspace setups, Unity Catalog objects, clusters, and workflows across Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Storage, and Synapse
- Configuration & Security (DevSecOps): Establish secrets management via Azure Key Vault, prevent configuration drift, integrate automated security scanning, and enforce RBAC and least-privilege models
- Platform Operations & Governance: Monitor platform health, optimize cloud resource usage/costs (FinOps), define Git branching standards, and drive SDLC continuous improvemen
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers to streamline analytics deployments, support architecture reviews, and mentor team members on DevOps best practices
What You Bring
- Experience: 5+ years in DevOps/Platform Engineering, with 3+ years specifically supporting Microsoft Azure environments
- Databricks Expertise: Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks workspace administration, deployment automation, and data pipeline integrations
- Automation & IaC: Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and authoring Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Scripting & Tooling: Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash, alongside Git-based workflows and Azure Key Vault
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills for root-cause analysis, observability implementation (Azure Monitor/Log Analytics), and system optimization
Nice to Haves
- Exposure to Databricks Asset Bundles, Delta Lake, Docker, or Kubernetes (AKS)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, FinOps strategies, or Azure cost optimization
- Relevant Azure Certifications (e.g., AZ-400, AZ-104, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
