Description
SAIC is seeking a Precision Fires DevOps Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
We are seeking a technically versatile and automation-focused DevOps Engineer to support the Precision Fires program. In this role, you will design, deploy, operate, and maintain secure development infrastructure and cloud-based services that enable software teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities efficiently and reliably. You will work within an Agile development environment to improve continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure automation, developer tooling, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- DevOps Engineering & Automation Design, implement, operate, and continuously improve secure DevOps and DevSecOps solutions supporting the complete software development lifecycle.
- Cloud Infrastructure Deploy and maintain secure products, services, and development environments in cloud-based platforms, with a focus on reliability, scalability, repeatability, and efficient resource utilization.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development Create, maintain, and enhance automated build, integration, test, deployment, and release pipelines across multiple development environments.
- Azure DevOps Administration Use Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) to support source control, build and release pipelines, work tracking, artifact management, documentation, and development-team collaboration.
- Infrastructure as Code Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and related configuration-management or provisioning tools.
- AI Enablement Evaluate and integrate artificial intelligence tools and capabilities that improve software development, automation, troubleshooting, documentation, testing, and operational efficiency while complying with program security requirements.
- Release & Environment Management Support the controlled movement of software and configuration changes through Development, Test, Staging, and Production environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with software developers, systems engineers, test teams, cybersecurity personnel, production support, and program leadership to deliver secure and dependable development capabilities.
- Standards & Governance Help define, document, and implement DevOps policies, technical standards, operating procedures, governance, and development best practices.
- Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve system performance, strengthen security, increase pipeline reliability, and shorten software delivery timelines.
- Technical Documentation Create and maintain architecture documentation, operating procedures, configuration guidance, troubleshooting instructions, and other technical artifacts.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant experience. Six (6) years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess an active Interim Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered. U.S. citizenship is required.
- DevOps Lifecycle Experience Experience supporting software development, integration, testing, deployment, or operations across the software development lifecycle.
- Cloud Experience Hands-on experience deploying or supporting infrastructure, applications, or development services in a cloud environment.
- CI/CD Experience Experience creating, maintaining, or troubleshooting automated build, test, integration, or deployment pipelines.
- Azure DevOps Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps for source control, pipelines, artifacts, work tracking, or related development activities.
- Infrastructure as Code Experience using Terraform or a similar Infrastructure as Code technology.
- Automation & Scripting Proficiency with Python and at least one additional scripting language, such as Bash or PowerShell.
- Troubleshooting Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues involving pipelines, operating systems, development tools, networks, permissions, dependencies, or deployment environments.
- Communication Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders and clearly document technical designs, procedures, and decisions.
- Experience supporting Army programs or working within the Army Acquisition Life Cycle.
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Experience implementing automated software testing, security scanning, code-quality analysis, artifact management, or software supply-chain controls.
- Experience with observability technologies, including centralized logging, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, or AI-assisted software engineering tools.
- Understanding of cybersecurity controls, secure configuration practices, identity and access management, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience supporting embedded software, mission systems, or other complex system-of-systems environments.
