UKG is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer with a passion for virtualization and private cloud technologies. In this role, you will be an integral part of our OpenStack team within our Cloud Infrastructure Foundations organization, supporting our Red Hat Openstack platform. You will help drive UKG’s on-premises private cloud by contributing to projects that improve the performance, reliability, and capacity of our virtualized environments. You will also develop automation and scripts to address complex infrastructure challenges in creative and scalable ways. Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement monitoring and metrics standards for both cloud and on-premises environments, with a focus on OpenStack
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate repetitive operational tasks, leveraging tools such as GitHub Action Runner to enable proactive, event-based responses
- Monitor infrastructure performance trends and proactively recommend or implement architecture improvements to maintain optimal capacity and stability
- Evaluate emerging technologies and operational methodologies to continuously improve platform capabilities and drive operational efficiency
- 3+ years of experience implementing and supporting virtualization infrastructure in an enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation and configuration management tools
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex or GitHub Copilot
- Experience working with Red Hat OpenStack and KVM-based virtualization
- Solid understanding of open-source software concepts, ecosystems, and common tooling
- Experience with one or more monitoring platforms such as Zabbix, Nagios, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to produce clear and thorough technical documentation
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, adapting quickly in a fast-paced team environment
- Scripting experience in one or more of the following: Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Experience using Git for source control and repository management
- Experience defining and tracking infrastructure KPIs for monitoring, capacity planning, and alerting
- Experience operating servers and infrastructure across multiple data centers
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, LXC, or containerd
- Experience tuning Linux systems and OpenStack components for optimal performance
- Familiarity with Agile development and operations frameworks
- Experience supporting or preparing for SOC 2 audits or similar compliance reviews
