About the Role

My client is currently looking to hire a Cloud Engineer to expand their DevOps capabilities and support growth in their cloud engineering and software delivery platforms.

The successful contractor will design, implement and maintain secure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructure and deploy solutions in Azure.

This role will work closely with software engineers, data engineers, architects, security teams and operational support teams to improve automation, reliability, security and delivery speed across multiple business-critical platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
• Build and support Azure cloud infrastructure across development, test and production environments.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, deployment and release processes.
• Implement and maintain enterprise-grade secrets management and credential rotation solutions.
• Automate operational processes, monitoring, alerting and environment provisioning.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve platform reliability, scalability and security.
• Support cloud governance, compliance and security best practices.
• Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure and platform issues across multiple environments.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase engineering productivity and reduce manual effort.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, resiliency and operational readiness activities.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Requirements:

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience managing Azure services including:
• Azure Virtual Networks
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Azure Key Vault
• Azure Storage
• Azure App Services
• Azure Monitor
• Azure Entra ID (Azure AD)

Infrastructure as Code

• Strong Terraform experience in enterprise environments.
• Experience creating reusable modules and managing environments through code.
• Understanding of infrastructure lifecycle management and state management.

Secret Management & Security

• Experience implementing secrets management solutions.
• Experience with Azure Key Vault or other enterprise secret management platforms.
• Strong understanding of identity, authentication and least-privilege access models.
• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in regulated environments.

Automation & CI/CD

• Experience building automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience of GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Strong scripting skills using PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Experience automating operational and engineering processes.

Monitoring & Operations

• Experience supporting production cloud environments.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging and incident response.
• Understanding of reliability engineering principles and operational excellence.

Desirable Skills

• Containerisation experience.
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise.
• Experience with Hashicorp Vault.
• Experience implementing platform engineering capabilities.
• Experience supporting data platforms such as Databricks or large-scale analytics environments.
• Knowledge of networking, DNS, certificates and cloud security controls.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.

Experience Required

• 5+ years of DevOps, Cloud Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Azure experience.
• Demonstrable experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience implementing enterprise automation solutions and secure cloud platforms.

Remuneration:

Generous daily rates on offer with rates up to 675 per day, in line with experience.
