Platform Engineer - Azure | Kubernetes

As an Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, operating, and continuously improving our Azure platform, with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), GitOps practices, and automation at its core. This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you will work closely with engineering teams while focusing primarily on platform engineering, infrastructure reliability, automation, and cloud governance.

Location: Budapest, Hungary | Reports to: Engineering Manager - Azure | Work Arrangement: Hybrid | Visa Requirements: Valid working visa for Hungary | Language Requirements: fluent/professional level of Hungarian and English

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain Azure infrastructure, including networking, governance controls, policies, and platform services.
• Operate and enhance Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable platform operations.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and GitOps-based deployment processes using Terraform and ArgoCD.
• Evolve platform standards, landing zones, automation capabilities, and self-service tooling for engineering teams.
• Support project teams during onboarding and help resolve complex platform-related challenges.
• Continuously improve platform performance, security, documentation, and operational processes.

 

Job Requirements

You'll bring:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, networking concepts, and platform architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ideally Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Experience working with GitOps practices and tools such as ArgoCD.
• Good understanding of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and modern CI/CD approaches.
• Knowledge of cloud security, governance, RBAC, and policy-driven platform management.
• A collaborative and proactive approach, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience with OpenShift.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Exposure to AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
