Junior DevOps Engineer
Indexed description
Born from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, home to one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers, we combine climate science, advanced modelling, and AI to transform complex data into actionable insights. Our mission is to empower organizations to build resilience and adapt to a changing climate.
We are now looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our team and help us build, automate, and maintain the cloud infrastructure that supports our climate-risk solutions.
About The Role
As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers across Platform, Development, Operations, and Security.
You will support the automation, reliability, security, and scalability of our systems, while continuing to develop your skills in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, and DevSecOps.
This is a great opportunity for someone with practical DevOps or cloud experience who is ready to take on more responsibility and grow within a purpose-driven technology company.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
- Create and modify cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Azure.
- Help ensure infrastructure is version-controlled, reproducible, and reliable.
- Support monitoring, logging, and observability using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Assist with alert triage, incident investigation, and technical documentation.
- Apply DevSecOps best practices, including access management, secrets management, security scanning, and patching.
- Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Security teams to improve processes and reduce manual work.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to support infrastructure development, debugging, and automation, while reviewing and validating all generated outputs.
- Around 2 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud operations, or a similar role.
- Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
- Practical knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, ideally GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
- Basic understanding of monitoring, logging, and incident-management principles.
- Awareness of cloud security, IAM, secrets management, and security-scanning practices.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
You are also thoughtful when using AI-assisted tools and understand the importance of reviewing, testing, and validating technical outputs before they reach production.
