AWS Cloud Engineer

Alderson Loop is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to support a large-scale technology modernization initiative within the benefits and payroll industry. This individual will join a team that is actively expanding its AWS cloud environment and rebuilding key components of its technology stack using modern, cloud-native infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, mid-level cloud engineer with strong AWS fundamentals, Infrastructure as Code experience, and a solid understanding of Linux and networking. This role is best suited for someone who has supported AWS within a production enterprise environment and can contribute quickly while continuing to grow their cloud and DevOps expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and support infrastructure within AWS cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Support AWS environments across a multi-account organization.
• Configure and manage AWS IAM roles, policies, permissions, and access controls.
• Support cloud networking, connectivity, and infrastructure components.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems within cloud environments.
• Assist with the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
• Support containerized environments and workloads utilizing Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, access, and performance issues across AWS environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other technology stakeholders on cloud and DevOps initiatives.
• Participate actively in technical discussions and clearly communicate infrastructure concepts, challenges, and recommendations.
• Help establish scalable, secure, and repeatable cloud infrastructure practices as the organization continues its technology transformation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience working with AWS in a professional/production environment.
• Experience developing and managing infrastructure with Terraform.
• Strong understanding of core AWS services and cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Experience with AWS IAM, including roles, policies, permissions, and access management.
• Experience supporting multi-account AWS environments.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals within cloud environments.
• Experience with Linux system administration.
• Ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and actively participate in technical discussions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-moving engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• AWS professional-level certifications or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional certification.
• Experience supporting modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated infrastructure deployments.
• Experience working within complex enterprise AWS environments.
• Exposure to cloud security, governance, monitoring, and infrastructure best practices.
