About The Squad
The Private Cloud Squad sits within our Infrastructure Services Platform and provides the foundational services that power ASB's technology estate. The squad is responsible for server provisioning, vulnerability management, configuration management and compute services consumed by teams across the organisation. As technology continues to evolve, Private Cloud is expanding its focus to include strategic cyber security initiatives, to improve efficiency, consistency and resilience across the enterprise.
About The Role
As a Systems Engineer, you'll be involved in the operation of ASB's foundational server provisioning services and vulnerability management tooling, primarily assisting other teams with their BAU queries and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for day-to-day operations within the Windows and Red Hat services, the VMware virtualization platform, and provisioning portals. You will also work alongside our senior engineers to ensure our infrastructure environments remain resilient and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis and BAU Support – Microsoft SCCM, Red Hat Satellite, Windows and RHEL server infrastructure and security patching, VMware virtualization platform, and Aria Automation suite
- Support of the VMware virtualization environment, Aria Automation suite and Azure VM provisioning
- Documentation and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to squad planning, roadmap initiatives and continuous improvement activities
- Participate in after-hours support and maintenance activities when required
Key Skills And Experience
- At least 3 years' experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering or Site Reliability Engineering
- Strong systems administration and VMware experience
- Strong understanding of operational cyber security concepts
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to operate effectively within a regulated enterprise environment
- Scripting and automation experience in Powershell, Ansible and other toolsets
- Strong understanding of infrastructure operations and engineering best practices
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Red Hat Satellite or comparable endpoint management technologies
- Cyber security, cloud or platform engineering certifications
- Experience working within large, complex technology environments
