Some Systems Engineers build infrastructure.

Others get to travel and see it running where it really matters.

Because a platform doesn't stop when the code reaches production.

That's when it starts being deployed into defence organisations, integrated into customer environments, or solving unexpected challenges during real-world implementations.

That's what this role is about.

Who We Are

At XRF, we develop technology for some of the world's most demanding environments.

We build Command & Control platforms used by defence organisations, emergency services and critical infrastructure operators to make better decisions when speed, coordination and information truly matter.

Our products are already deployed in operational environments, participate in European and NATO programmes, and support real-world missions.

We combine cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, geospatial technologies, communications and real-time systems to build software for organisations that simply cannot afford system failure.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Systems Engineer to join XRF's Systems Team.

You'll help design, manage and evolve the infrastructure behind our platform, working with cloud technologies, containers and automation to ensure our systems remain reliable, secure and scalable.

But this isn't a traditional infrastructure role.

Part of your time will be spent working alongside our Customer Success team, supporting customer deployments and technical implementations.

That means travelling when projects require it, deploying our platform into complex customer environments, solving technical issues on-site and helping ensure every implementation is successful.

We're not looking for a salesperson. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving problems, stays calm under pressure and feels comfortable working directly with customers. Someone who can represent XRF professionally, build trust and provide technical leadership when challenges arise.

You'll also work in an environment where cybersecurity and compliance are part of everyday engineering. We don't expect you to be a security expert from day one, but we do expect genuine curiosity and the willingness to grow into this area over time.

What we expect you to bring

Above all, we're looking for someone with a strong systems infrastructure background.

Ideally, you've worked with many of the following technologies:

• Linux
• AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms)
• Docker
• Kubernetes
• Git
• Networking and infrastructure
• CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Troubleshooting production environments
• Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate confidently with international customers and teams

We're not looking for someone who has worked with every technology under the sun.

We're looking for someone who understands infrastructure fundamentals and genuinely enjoys solving complex technical problems.

You'll also be part of this

An important part of your role will involve working alongside our Customer Success team during customer deployments and implementations.

This means occasionally working directly with customers on-site.

We're looking for someone who:

• Enjoys solving problems on-site.
• Remains calm when unexpected situations arise.
• Can explain technical concepts clearly.
• Builds confidence with customers.
• Enjoys seeing the technology they build running successfully in real operational environments.

We're not looking for a consultant. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys building infrastructure just as much as helping it succeed once it reaches the customer.

Above all, we're looking for a great engineer with great people skills.

Where you'll continue growing

We're looking for someone with solid systems engineering foundations who is also eager to keep learning.

Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:

• Terraform or Ansible
• Prometheus, Grafana or ELK
• Virtualisation and hybrid infrastructure
• On-premise deployments
• Infrastructure security
• ENS, CCN-STIC or equivalent security frameworks
• Software product companies
• Defence, Security or Critical Infrastructure sectors
