Description Of The Function
The Solution Architect Business Applications collaborates closely with Business Owners, Process Experts, IT teams, strategic Enterprise Architecture and external partners to evaluate solution options, develop architecture documentation, and support vendor selection and implementation activities.
This function spans the full lifecycle—from early assessment and conceptual architecture to governance, compliance, and implementation guidance—across all relevant business applications.
What You Will Do
Solution Options & Evaluation
- Create inventory of existing dk applications of the same class and document their purpose and usage.
- Conduct market scans of comparable external applications.
- Build comparative evaluation matrices based on dk principles, cost (TCO, licensing, implementation), risks, timeframes, dependencies, and experience.
- Perform fit‑gap analyses against business requirements.
- Develop recommendations for ARB (Architecture Review Board) approval including clear rationale aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
- Capture and summarize stakeholder alignment across business, IT, and security.
- Create Business Solution Architecture Diagrams showing processes and solution support.
- Develop Application Architecture Diagrams outlining application roles and interactions.
- Produce Integration Architecture Diagrams (APIs, ESB, middleware).
- Design Data Architecture Diagrams including flows, ownership, storage, governance.
- Create Cloud Architecture Diagrams (deployment models, scalability, components).
- Develop Security Architecture Diagrams (identity, access control, encryption, compliance).
- Provide Infrastructure Architecture Overviews (hosting, network, compute, storage).
- Document Architecture Principles & Assumptions.
- Maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) including alternatives and rationale.
- Define Non‑Functional Requirements (NFRs) such as performance, scalability, availability, security, and supportability.
- Provide architectural input for RFP/RFI documents including integration expectations, security requirements, and architecture guidelines.
- Define vendor evaluation criteria and scoring models.
- Support technical Q&A and clarify architecture topics for vendors.
- Assess solution fit of vendor proposals against architecture, NFRs, and enterprise standards.
- Prepare ARB (Architecture Review Board) submission packages including diagrams, rationale, and risk assessments.
- Create and maintain compliance checklists for GDPR, ISO and internal standards.
- Maintain an architecture risk register including mitigation strategies.
- Define transition architectures between current and target states.
- Develop deployment strategies including phased rollout, pilots, and fallback options.
- Provide architecture handover documentation for implementation and operations teams.
- Drive Solution Architecture in our Transformation Program RECITE with the special focus to transform into a standardized and consolidated target application landscape and in alignment with Business Owners, Process Experts, IT teams, Enterprise Architecture.
- Minimum 5 years as Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Senior Consultant in complex IT environments
- Experience with enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, integration platforms, cloud services)
- Participation in 2–3 global implementation or transformation projects
- Practical experience with application evaluation, solution design, and vendor selection
- Experience working with integration patterns, data architectures, and cloud services (Azure preferred)
- Strong experience in solution architecture across business applications
- Understanding of end‑to‑end business processes
- Strong knowledge in cloud, integration, and data architecture
- Ability to translate business requirements into architecture designs and deliverables
- Experience with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), methodologies, governance
- Experience with SAP, Salesforce, Middleware/ESB, API management
- Senior-level consulting or architecture experience
- Experience guiding stakeholders in architecture workshops
- Ability to influence without authority and drive alignment
- Experience managing external partners and vendors
- Strong capability in preparing decision documents for senior management (e.g., ARB)
- Flexibility to travel is expected
- Experience in security & compliance architecture
- Knowledge of cost modeling and TCO analysis
- Experience with enterprise architecture tools (LeanIX, Signavio, etc.)
