Lead Solutions Architect (XC & Government)

Summary

The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for end to end application and system architecture for government and public sector clients, with a strong focus on XC 信创（信息技术应用创新）as well as the migration and transformation from traditional databases to XC databases。 The role leads a team of solution architects to understand complex business requirements and produce cost effective, compliant, and innovative solutions for large scale digital transformation projects.

The Job

• Lead solution architecture for government tenders, owning overall technical strategy, target architecture, and solution integrity from pre‑sales through delivery.
• Analyse RFI/RFQ/RFP documents and government technical standards, map requirements to feasible solutions, and drive the creation of winning technical tender proposals.
• Design secure, scalable microservices architectures (API‑enabled, containerized, DevOps‑enabled) covering applications, integration, data, security, and infrastructure layers.
• Define and maintain reference architectures, reusable patterns and templates for microservices, API gateways and messaging services.
• Provide governance and technical leadership to a team of solution architects and technical leads; review and sign‑off solution designs, estimates, and risk registers.
• Collaborate with project managers, account managers, business analysts, security, operations and vendor partners to ensure solutions are deliverable within cost, schedule, risk and compliance constraints.
• Ensure architectures comply with government IT,Information security, data security, standards, industry regulatory requirements, as well as the implementation of security controls such as identity authentication, access control, encryption, and log auditing.
• Participate in customer workshops, steering committees and architecture review boards; Articulate the value, risks, and roadmap of the solution to senior business and technical leaders.
• Lead assessment and migration from traditional databases (e.g. Oracle/MySQL/SQL Server) to XC databases (e.g. GaussDB，Kingbase and OceanBase).
• Define database migration methodologies (assessment, schema & SQL Compatibility analysis), data migration, synchronization, and cutover rehearsals, and guiding the program team to use vendor or third-party migration tools to complete the migration of the XC database.
• Define and govern XC modernization blueprints, including the selection and integration solutions for XC middleware, databases, big data, and security products.

The Person

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years overall IT experience, including at least 8 years as a Solution Architect and 5+ years in a lead/manager role.
• Solid experience in government or public‑sector tenders, including leading technical responses, solution costing, and presentations for medium‑to‑large projects.
• Hands‑on architecture and implementation experience with microservices (e.g. Spring Cloud, .NET microservices, service mesh, API gateway, containers/Kubernetes, CI/CD).
• Proven experience delivering projects on XC middleware, databases, and related ecosystems.
• Practical experience migrating at least one sizeable system from traditional databases to XC databases (e.g. Kingbase, OceanBase, DM, etc.), including evaluation, modification, data migration, and production cutover.
• Strong background in enterprise integration patterns, REST/gRPC APIs, messaging, and data streaming, ideally on both traditional and XC ecosystem

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Architecture leadership: Ability to define target state architectures and roadmaps across applications, data, integration and infrastructure.
• Government tender expertise: Skilled in interpreting tender specifications, marking scores criteria, building a technical compliance matrix, optimizing architectural costs, and endorsing the solution during clarification meetings/demonstrations.
• Traditional and XC Database Capabilities: Deep understanding of the positioning and technology ecosystem of the XC industry, with extensive experience in the characteristics of traditional databases, compatibility differences, SQL dialect conversion, migration tools, and common issues.
• Analytical & problem‑solving: Able to assess the difficulty of legacy system transformation, performance and capacity requirements, and migration risks, and propose a phased, reversible migration and evolution plan.
• Stakeholder communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in Chinese and English
• Team management: Experience leading and mentoring multi‑disciplinary teams of architects
