Harnham are working with an early-stage FinTech lender that is looking to hire a Data Scientist to join its growing credit function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong quantitative skills to have a direct impact on lending decisions and help shape a business from an early stage.

THE ROLE

As a Data Scientist, you will focus on credit risk, decisioning, and lending strategy. You will play a key role in developing and implementing analytical solutions that support lending decisions, pricing, affordability assessments, and portfolio performance.

Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:

• Building and monitoring credit risk scorecards, pricing models, and decisioning strategies.
• Developing analytical solutions using customer, transactional, and external data sources.
• Supporting affordability analysis, portfolio monitoring, and performance reporting.
• Enhancing lending policies and strategies through data-driven insights.
• Collaborating with commercial, product, and technology teams to improve lending outcomes.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Data Scientist will have the following skills and experience:

• A strong academic background with a degree in a quantitative STEM discipline.
• 2-4 years of experience in Data Science, Credit Risk Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience within financial services, lending, insurance, or a similarly regulated environment.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Knowledge of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques.
• Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The successful Data Scientist will receive a salary up to £60,000.
