About the Role

Viable Solutions is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team and deliver scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions for enterprise clients. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing AWS cloud environments, supporting cloud migration programs, and driving cloud best practices across the organisation. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about cloud technology who thrives in complex, fast-paced enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and resilient AWS cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Architect highly available, fault-tolerant, and cost-optimised cloud environments
  • Define and implement AWS landing zones, account structures, and multi-account strategies
  • Evaluate and recommend AWS services aligned to business and technical requirements
  • Support and lead cloud migration initiatives — lift and shift, re-platforming, and re-architecting

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Automate provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks
  • Implement and maintain configuration management tools — Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Build reusable IaC modules and templates for consistent cloud deployments

Security & Compliance

  • Implement AWS security best practices — IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Security Hub, and GuardDuty
  • Design and enforce cloud security policies, network controls, and compliance frameworks
  • Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities across AWS environments
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements — CIS benchmarks, NIST, or ISO 27001

Networking

  • Design and manage AWS networking components — VPC, subnets, route tables, NAT Gateway, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect
  • Implement and manage DNS solutions — Route 53
  • Configure load balancers — ALB, NLB, and CloudFront

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure deployments
  • Work with DevOps tools — AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Support containerised workloads — Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Helm
  • Implement GitOps practices — ArgoCD or Flux

Monitoring & Reliability

  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions — CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Define and manage SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs for cloud services
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimisation reviews
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and disaster recovery planning

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–8+ years of experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS core services — EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, ECS/EKS (mandatory)
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code — Terraform or AWS CloudFormation (mandatory)
  • Strong AWS networking knowledge — VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and Route 53
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines — AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Strong understanding of AWS security — IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Security Hub, GuardDuty
  • Experience with containerisation — Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Helm
  • Proficiency in scripting — Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience with monitoring tools — CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost optimisation and FinOps principles
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments
