Job Description:

The Senior Cloud Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure, with a primary focus on AWS. This position is responsible for cloud security, resource optimization, troubleshooting complex cloud issues, and partnering closely with development and governance teams to support secure, resilient, and scalable solutions. Work is performed under minimal supervision, and the role includes coaching and mentoring responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure and solutions.
• Analyze business requirements to define technical specifications and standards.
• Deploy and support web-based applications while ensuring appropriate information security standards are met.
• Manage cloud security and maintain reports, logs, and records related to security audits.
• Monitor system uptime and performance, and troubleshoot and resolve errors.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their value to the organization.
• Partner with development teams to provide guidance on secure coding, architecture, and technical best practices.
• Lead disaster recovery planning and regularly test recovery procedures to support business continuity across cloud-based systems.
• Work with governance teams to implement automated processes and standard methodologies for cloud policies, roles, and identity management.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
• Participate in selecting cloud hosting patterns and implement secure, resilient platforms using infrastructure as code and DevOps strategies.

Qualifications:

• Strong ability to handle complex issues and problems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing.
• Leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring experience.
• Experience with one or more cloud computing platforms.
• Experience in system administration.
• Strong understanding of security management solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills, with a resourceful, adaptable, and follow-through-oriented approach.
• High proficiency with cloud-compatible monitoring tools and logging solutions, including:
• AWS or Azure
• IAM tools such as Ping, Entra ID, and Active Directory
• Patching and OS updates
• CloudFormation
• Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
• Higher-level cloud certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect, required.
• Minimum of 5 years of cloud experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years of AWS cloud platform experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Infrastructure as Code preferred.
• Experience working in an Agile environment preferred.
