Expert VMware/Wintel System Engineer

As an Expert VMware/Wintel System Engineer, you have at least 15 years of experience and you are jointly responsible for the design, installation, maintenance and optimization of the ICT infrastructure within a complex and rapidly changing ICT environment following a transition phase in which various (outdated) environments are transformed into a hybrid platform.

You will work together with experienced system engineers within the operations team of the ICT cell. You are responsible for coming up with creative solutions and you can work this out on a project basis. You offer support and advice to your colleagues in the field of VMWare, AD, Citrix and Windows servers. You have knowledge of BeyondTrust and Pingcastle and help represent the ICT Operations team within the projects of the Security team. You evaluate and test new data center and cloud technologies (services). You develop and maintain an extensive set of documentation related to ICT data centers.

You work closely with the rest of the ICT team and report to the operations manager. After a while, you will be on call.

You will work alternately from the offices in Hasselt and Willebroek.

You have a feeling (practical experience) with techniques that can be under the hood of a cloud platform. Our software mainly runs on Microsoft technology. You are keen to follow up on the technology behind the applications in order to manage the

Must Have experience:

Proven experience with BeyondTrust and PingCastle.

Proven experience with Data Center technology: Advanced experience with vCenter

Proven experience with Data Center technology: Advanced Windows engineering (Server 2008x, 2012x, 2016, 2019,2022,2025)

Demonstrable experience with data center technology: File share management

Proven experience with Data Center technology: Manage VMWare lifecycle

Proven experience with Datacenter technology: Windows Active Directory

Proven experience with Data Center Technology: WSUS

Proven experience with setting up Azure Functions

Proven experience of Backup (Veeam) & Monitoring concepts (PRTG)

Proven experience for the technology in question or a similar technology

Demonstrated knowledge of: Entra id, Azure ARC, Azure Update Manager

Demonstrated knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and desktops

Demonstrated knowledge of: Active Directory, Windows, SEP, GPO, ESXI, VMware

You have experience with automation (scripting by means of powershell).

Knowledge and experience with migrating data centers

Higher education (Master or Bachelor) with technical/engineering background or equivalent through experience with ICT technology for which expertise is required
