Technical Architect
Indexed description
A new architecture function, built from the ground up, at the start of a multi-year technology transformation.
This is solution-architect altitude: high-level design and blueprints that set the direction, with engineering teams building within your guardrails. Design and ownership, not hands-on code, and not maintaining someone else's legacy.
What is in it for you
- £75,000 to £85,000 depending on experience, plus benefits
- Hybrid, with flexibility
- A genuinely greenfield remit: you help define how modern applications and integration architecture is done here, rather than inherit it
The organisation
We are partnering with a mission-led organisation partway through a significant, multi-year technology transformation. It is building out a modern Azure estate and a new architecture capability to steer it, and this is one of the first hires into that function.
What you will be doing
- Own high-level design across applications and integration, turning business and data drivers into clear, deliverable architecture
- Define a modern integration approach on Azure, moving away from legacy point-to-point patterns towards a managed, controlled layer
- Set the principles and guardrails engineers work within, then assure delivery against them
- Work alongside subject matter experts, engineering and wider architecture to keep solutions coherent across the estate
What you will need
- A genuine solution or applications and integration architect, comfortable at high-level design and blueprint level
- Strong Microsoft and Azure background, with modern integration judgement: knowing the tools in the kit, picking the right one, and understanding how it is managed and controlled
- Experience moving an organisation off legacy integration towards a modern, service-oriented approach
- The credibility to define architecture, brief engineers and assure delivery without getting into the weeds
Useful, not essential
- BCS Solution Architecture certification or TOGAF
- API management and event-driven integration patterns in a Microsoft context
