Cloud Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join a high-profile engagement supporting the Azure Swiss Sovereign Cloud environment. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced contractors who thrive in complex cloud environments and enjoy working on critical cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring the healthy operation of the Swiss Sovereign Cloud, collaborating closely with a highly skilled engineering team while independently driving and leading assigned technical demands.

Location: Onsite, Zurich, Switzerland

Contract Duration: August - February 2027, subject to potential extension

Project Overview

This engagement supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Azure cloud platforms, including the Swiss Sovereign Cloud environment and regional Azure workloads.

The role focuses on:

• Azure cloud platform engineering

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Cloud automation

• Operational excellence

• Cloud operations and platform support • Integration of business applications into Azure cloud environments

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the stability, security, and healthy operation of the Azure Swiss Sovereign Cloud platform. • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure and cloud services.

• Develop and enhance Infrastructure as Code solutions using Bicep.

• Build and improve automation using PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.

• Support cloud operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous service improvements.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard and integrate business applications into Azure.

• Lead assigned technical workstreams independently while contributing as a collaborative team member.

• Promote operational excellence, automation, and cloud engineering best practices.

Required skills & experience

• Proven experience as an Azure Cloud Engineer or Azure Infrastructure Engineer.

• Strong Azure administration and platform engineering experience.

• Hands-on expertise with:

o Azure Infrastructure

o Azure DevOps

o Bicep

o Ansible

o PowerShell

o Python

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation.

• Strong understanding of Windows and Linux environments.

• Good knowledge of networking concepts within Azure environments.

• Experience supporting hybrid cloud infrastructures.

• Excellent troubleshooting and operational support skills. Certifications The following certifications are highly desirable:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
