Solutions Architect – Evanston, IL (Hybrid) | Full-Time

We’re looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to support a mission‑driven organization headquartered in Evanston, IL. This role focuses on designing scalable technical solutions, guiding technology decisions, and ensuring architectures align with long‑term business and enterprise strategy.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys partnering with business leaders, evaluating platforms, shaping standards, and building solutions across cloud, enterprise applications, and integrations.

Role Overview

In this position, you will work closely with stakeholders, business owners, and technical teams to understand capability needs and translate them into effective solution designs. You’ll lead platform evaluations, define architecture standards, support integrations, and ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and quality requirements.

You’ll also contribute to technology roadmaps, assess emerging tools, and help manage the organization’s solution portfolio — including cloud platforms, collaboration tools, custom applications, APIs, and research‑enabling systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technical teams to understand requirements and design scalable solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, tools, and services.
• Create architecture documentation: diagrams, standards, reference models, and governance materials.
• Guide application development, integrations, APIs, and infrastructure design.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and data protection standards.
• Identify aging technologies and technical debt; recommend remediation strategies.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and contribute to long‑term planning.
• Support a wide range of internal platforms including Azure, AWS, Salesforce, M365, collaboration tools, and custom applications.

Required Experience & Skills

• 8+ years as a Solutions Architect or in a similar technical leadership role.
• Strong background designing complex solutions across cloud, enterprise apps, and integrations.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure, AWS, Salesforce, M365, APIs, and modern application architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern development frameworks.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Solid project management and vendor management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• Azure or AWS Solutions Architect certification preferred.
