Senior IoT Architect | Robotics Hyperscaler | Germany (On-Site)

AI Futures are partnered exclusively with the most exciting AI startup in Germany to find a Senior IoT Architect.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new industry by building the operating system for physical-world intelligence. Funded by Tier 1 VCs the company are developing a new category of autonomous systems capable of delivering low-signature, persistent intelligence at scale, creating a programmable layer that connects the physical world to organisations and turns deployments into real insight. With initial applications in defence and long-term applications across security, infrastructure and industry, the company is scaling from 50 to 200 people in 2026.

The Role:

• Own the end‑to‑end device and edge architecture, from field devices and field hubs through secure cloud connectivity
• Design and operates offline‑first IoT systems, including local buffering, intermittent connectivity, and delayed cloud synchronization
• Lead device identity, secure connectivity, and lifecycle management, with a strong focus on provisioning, authentication, and trust
• Define and implement secure OTA update mechanisms, including artifact signing, encryption, and controlled rollout
• Work closely with robotics, autonomy, and platform streams, embedding architectural expertise into small, goal‑oriented teams
• Act as a hands‑on chief‑level architect, contributing directly to production systems and guiding decisions via the advice process and ADRs

The Candidate:

• 50–70% hands‑on contribution to device, edge, and platform implementation
• Strong experience designing offline‑first IoT systems in constrained environments
• Deep expertise in secure connectivity, device identity, and authentication e.g. X.509, mTLS
• Proven ownership of device lifecycle management (provisioning, OTA, fleet operations)
• Experience building scalable IoT architectures across fleets and customers
• Strong understanding of edge + cloud integration, including intermittent connectivity
• Hands‑on experience with MQTT‑based communication and local buffering strategies
• Strong hands‑on experience with AWS IoT services e.g. IoT Core, Greengrass
• Uses ADRs and collaborative, advice‑driven architectural decision‑making
• Improves CFRs i.e. reliability, scalability, security, performance
