About the role
Oneiro builds DLX, a platform that helps financial institutions manage syndicated lending and loan administration.
We’re looking for a Product Engineer to build and deliver meaningful features, workflows, and integrations across the stack. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and client-facing teams to turn real customer problems into pragmatic, reliable software.
You’ll independently own well-defined features through implementation, release, and production follow-up. You’ll contribute to technical decisions and progressively take ownership of larger and more ambiguous areas of work.
What you’ll do
- Build features, workflows, and integrations across the stack.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested software.
- Own well-defined features through implementation, release, and production follow-up.
- Turn product requirements into clear, practical technical solutions.
- Contribute to system and API design, data flows, reliability, performance, and security.
- Work carefully with financial logic, calculations, dates, state transitions, and edge cases.
- Identify assumptions and design appropriate tests for quantitative business rules.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and customers to understand real user needs.
- Investigate production issues and raise risks or uncertainties early.
- Improve the tooling, documentation, testing, and systems you work with.
- Develop expertise in syndicated lending and loan administration.
What we’re looking for
We look for candidates with strong analytical ability and evidence of excellence, whether demonstrated through academic achievement, professional work, or substantial projects, regardless of university or educational background.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building and operating production software.
- Strong skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, or a similar production language.
- Experience delivering features through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Confidence reasoning about financial calculations, assumptions, rounding, dates, state transitions, and edge cases.
- Ability to work carefully with quantitative business rules and clearly explain your assumptions and testing decisions.
- A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or another highly quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good understanding of APIs, data flows, automated testing, reliability, performance, and security.
- Experience with cloud-native systems, integrations, or workflow-driven products.
- Practical experience using AI development tools to improve engineering productivity or quality.
- Strong communication skills and a product-minded approach.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities and requirements can change.
- Professional experience building software in banking, fintech, lending, payments, or another complex regulated domain.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with corporate banking, syndicated loans, loan servicing, or financial operations.
- Startup, scale-up, or founding experience, or experience in another high-ownership environment.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs or enterprise platforms.
- Experience working in SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or similarly controlled environments.
- Experience contributing to design discussions, code reviews, or improvements to team practices.
Location
The role is currently remote, with a preference for candidates based in or near Edinburgh or Glasgow. We’re exploring the possibility of opening an office in Scotland in the future, but these plans are not yet confirmed. We’ll be transparent as they develop.
Oneiro is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and making our hiring process accessible to everyone.
