Software Engineer, Java, Finanical Services

In this role, you will focus on building strong systems, with a priority on back-end and database engineering. In today's AI era, you are also expected to be proficient with web technologies and AI-assisted development.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, powerful, and performance-optimized software to enable the best user experience on the company products.

• Develop and enhance large-scale systems using Java technologies (Gift, payments, alert system, …); contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Maintain existing systems and build new features as required.
• Work with the project team to analyze and clarify product requirements before implementation.
• Drive and improve AI-assisted development practices within the team — tooling, agent setup, reusable prompt/context patterns, and workflow.
• Contribute to effort estimation for new projects/enhancements.
• Research and propose new technologies to apply to the team's projects.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for the features/services you own.
• Collaborate with project leaders and stakeholders to deliver on time with high quality.
• Proactively report project/team issues to Lead/Manager.

Must-have

• At least 3 years of professional backend Java development experience.
• Strong Java core / systems fundamentals — OOP, generics, collections internals, concurrency (thread model, executors, locks, memory visibility), and JVM internals (memory model, GC, classloading).
• Deep understanding of systems and frameworks — you grasp how a system and its framework work under the hood and can reason about and safely modify them, not just glue conventions together.
• Good system design sense — designing services and APIs at scale, reasoning about failure modes, data consistency, idempotency, and trade-offs in distributed/microservice systems.
• Solid command of databases — Oracle, PostgreSQL (query optimization, transactions, indexing, data integrity) plus working knowledge of NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB).
• Message queue and distributed patterns — hands-on with Kafka/RabbitMQ, distributed lock and caching patterns (Redis).
• Hands-on experience designing AI-assisted development workflows — tooling, agent/prompt/context patterns — and able to bring those practices into the team, with the judgment to verify and own AI-generated code so that AI accelerates delivery without bypassing mandatory human sign-off on financial/partner flows.
• Experience working in Scrum/Agile with Jira.

Nice-to-have

• Fintech / payments / lending domain experience.
• Observability: centralized logging, metrics, tracing.
• Proficient with Git / GitLab, CI/CD, and code review discipline.
