Java Developer

About the project

ZumIT is looking for a Java Developer to join one of our long term client project — an enterprise-grade event-driven platform handling large-scale data flows across integrated systems. You will work closely with other Kafka developers and a Tech Lead to deliver reliable, scalable solutions within a structured Agile environment.

What you'll be doing

• Developing and maintaining Kafka-based event pipelines, transformers and consumers in alignment with Tech Lead validation
• Working on integration projects involving APIs, Change Data Capture (CDC) and event-driven architectures
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into clear technical documentation
• Participating in code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across the project lifecycle
• Managing tasks in Jira and maintaining documentation in Confluence
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and advocating for technical best practices within the team

What we're looking for

• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, connectors)
• Solid Java backend development skills
• Experience with integration projects: APIs, event-driven systems, Change Data Capture
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
• Good communication and consultant mindset — able to interact with stakeholders and document technical decisions clearly
• Experience with code reviews and quality assurance processes
• English — professional working level

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka transformers and schema management (Avro, Schema Registry)
• Knowledge of microservices architecture
• Previous work on enterprise or retail/FMCG platforms
