Locations: Pittsburgh, PA | Birmingham, AL | Strongsville, OH | Dallas, TX | Cleveland, OH | Phoenix, AZ | Denver, CO

Work Arrangement: Onsite – 5 days per week at the client office

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior API Developers with strong hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, REST APIs, Spring Boot, and Microservices to join a large-scale enterprise technology team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, deploying, and troubleshooting high-performance APIs and backend services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, design scalable solutions, improve API standards, and ensure the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Java developers who enjoy working on API platforms, microservices, cloud technologies, DevOps, and enterprise integrations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend components using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Develop scalable and high-performance Java/J2EE applications and RESTful services.
  • Design and implement APIs that integrate with internal and external client systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain microservices-based applications following enterprise architecture and development standards.
  • Improve API standards, services, performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, debugging, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop comprehensive unit tests for Java and JavaScript-based applications.
  • Work with messaging technologies such as Kafka and IBM MQ for enterprise application integration.
  • Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases as part of API and backend development.
  • Leverage cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure for application development and deployment.
  • Use DevOps tools such as Jenkins, uDeploy, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback on design and implementation approaches.
  • Review technical/design documents and provide recommendations regarding architecture, approach, effort, and estimates.
  • Create technical designs for new systems and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Translate detailed business and technical requirements into functional and technical system designs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business, design, architecture, and technology teams.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical discussions and best-practice initiatives.
  • Research and recommend frameworks, libraries, and tools that can improve development productivity and solution quality.
  • Work effectively in Agile development environments and participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Prioritize work effectively and consistently meet project deadlines.


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE development experience – Mandatory.
  • 8+ years of RESTful and/or SOAP Web Services experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
  • Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Experience with JSON, XML, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • 5+ years of experience with Angular, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • 5+ years of experience with Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD environments.
  • Experience developing unit tests for Java and JavaScript applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM MQ.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of API design, integration patterns, microservices architecture, and backend development.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale enterprise API platforms.
  • Experience with API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
  • Experience with API gateways and enterprise integration platforms.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services domain.
  • Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.
