As a hands-on technical leader, you will mentor engineers, influence architecture decisions, and foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and operational reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, development, implementation, and support of complex software solutions across cloud-native and legacy technology environments.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance for critical applications, platforms, and engineering initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business goals.
- Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, cloud technologies, automation, and AI-assisted development tools to improve team efficiency and delivery outcomes.
- Evaluate technical options, recommend solution approaches, and review key technical deliverables to ensure quality, security, and long-term maintainability.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures and cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as ECS (Fargate), Lambda, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Glue, Athena, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
- Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions and communicate impacts of technology decisions.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, perform root cause analysis, and proactively identify and mitigate operational and technology risks.
- Promote engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code reviews, testing practices, observability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and develop engineers by sharing technical expertise, coaching best practices, and supporting ongoing skill development.
- Ensure compliance with technology, security, and risk management policies while maintaining a security-first mindset across all solutions.
- Contribute to technical documentation, standards, architectural diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of eight years of relevant technology experience, including at least three years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives through hands-on engineering, mentoring, architecture guidance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience designing, building, and supporting production-grade applications in both legacy and cloud-based environments.
- Strong proficiency with AWS technologies, including CloudFront, S3, ECS, IAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Glue, Athena, and Step Functions.
- Experience developing modern applications using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Spring Framework, and Python.
- Front-end development experience with Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and testing frameworks such as Jest.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, microservices, API integration patterns, and distributed systems.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL-based development.
- Proficiency with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and GitHub-based workflows.
- Experience using observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Honeycomb, CloudWatch, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Security Services APIs, Okta integrations, and legacy/NGA web service applications is preferred.
- Experience leveraging Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms) to improve software quality, developer productivity, and delivery outcomes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to building high-quality, resilient, secure, and observable systems.
