Senior Developer

We are looking for...

a Senior Developer in order to support the growth of our flagship product, Zadu.

Zadu is a digital product that encompasses all Belgian addresses and buildings with a multitude of linked data properties and gives an elaborate description of characteristics and activities at any given location. Through Zadu, retailers can for instance understand where their customers live, work and shop. Utility network operators can optimize their network planning, design, roll-out and operations and distribution companies can optimize their address management and logistics. Zadu thus enables better decision-making based on clear location insights. The objective is to evolve the product into a complete and highly detailed digital twin of the build-up territory.

As a Senior Developer,

I play a pivotal role in GIM’s product team, contributing to the development and expansion of Zadu, our flagship geodata product. My extensive technical expertise, combined with a mature and solution-oriented mindset, allows me to navigate this complex product while ensuring quality, stability, and innovation. I not only excel in back-end development and data pipelines, but also coach and guide other team members, offering mentorship and technical support where needed.

In my role, Java, Spring, and Python are key areas of expertise, alongside my strong proficiency with relational databases, SQL, ElasticSearch, and FastAPI. I actively collaborate with data engineers to build and optimize data pipelines, improving the accuracy and performance of the Belmap product. My knowledge of version control and CI/CD systems ensures seamless collaboration and accelerates our deployment processes. While experience with GIS (QGIS), Spatial Data, and ETL is advantageous, my deep understanding of the ICT domain helps me grasp the broader business context and leverage the full potential of our product.

I play a key role in embedding Generative AI into our engineering practices. I continuously evaluate emerging AI tools, define best practices, coach colleagues in their effective use, identify opportunities to automate development workflows, and help shape our AI strategy across the Zadu product team. While I am not an AI researcher, I am passionate about leveraging AI to improve software quality, productivity, and innovation in cases where it is appropriate to do so.

In addition to my technical skills, my leadership capabilities, effective communication, and positive, collaborative mindset allow me to mentor junior developers and drive continuous improvement within the team. I actively participate in team meetings and feedback sessions, proposing initiatives that enhance collaboration and elevate our processes. Preferred in Dutch.
