Full-Stack Engineer (AI-Native / Backend-Led)

Location: London, Hybrid

Salary: Up to £80,000 + Discretionary Bonus

We're working with a well-funded, founder-led startup in the sports-tech space. The co-founders are domain insiders backed by specialists in AI and SaaS, building next-generation intelligent content infrastructure. This is an AI-native engineering position - not a standard full-stack role. The expectation is that you operate at the level of architecture, agent management, and high-trust technical ownership, with AI tooling embedded into how you actually work.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
• Design and build real-time data pipelines and event-driven systems at scale
• Integrate LLM APIs and AI tooling directly into the product
• Set technical direction and own your deployments in a high-autonomy environment
• Contribute to architecture decisions in a fast-moving, iterative engineering culture

Key Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture - this is the core of the role
• Polyglot mindset - Java 21 is the core backend; experience across Node.js, Python or Go welcomed
• Proven experience integrating LLM APIs into production systems and AI workflows (MCP, agent tooling)
• Full-stack delivery capability - frontend through to infra
• Engineering rigour: clean, tested, documented code with performance and security in mind

Desirable

• Experience with Flink or Spark streams
• React/Vue/Svelte experience
• Domain experience in sports tech, live event data, or video streaming
• Strong background in data architecture and systems design

• Up to £80,000 base salary + discretionary bonus
• Hybrid - London, 2-3 days in office
