Job Code PG1 – Senior Programmer – NOW FILLED

We are looking for an experienced, world-class, programmer to join our founding engineering team and take a leading role in the delivery of our first release.

You’ll be joining at a time when we have just completed a walking skeleton which combines, ClojureScript, React, Docker, and Elastic Beanstalk to deliver a preliminary implementation of our serotype surveillance pipeline.

It will be your job to put flesh on these bare bones and, through discussion with our scientific collaborators, build out the new platform to include advanced data management and visualisation facilities underpinned by robust, efficient and scalable software.

You will probably have 5+ years commercial software experience and a deep knowledge of agile software development combined with a passion for automated testing. You’ll be excited by software that is elegant and good looking and you’ll want your users to feel the same way.

Knowledge of more than one software stack (Ruby on Rails, Java, Scala, Clojure, Node.js, …) would be ideal. In particular experience with Clojure, or a very strong desire to move into it, is critical as this will be central to our first solution to support trials in Australia and South Africa later this year.

Our team is split between Tooting, SW17 and Cambridge. Home working is a possibility however close proximity to these locations is desirable in order to enable regular meetings and rapid communication as the business evolves.
