This position is for Stadler Digital Labs, a joint venture between Stadler Rail and Critical Software serving as the digital competence center for the Stadler Group.

Could you be the DevOps Engineer- AI that we've been looking for?


Key Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and operate AI-related applications, platforms, services, and reusable technical components for Stadler’s future AI Center of Competence.
  • Support Stadler’s AI Strategy & Governance by translating technical, security, and compliance requirements into reliable solutions.
  • Develop and maintain AI DevOps standards, automation, deployment processes, and operational procedures for AI solutions.
  • Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, reliability, incident handling, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with developers, platform teams, operations, cybersecurity, architecture, and business units to enable secure and scalable AI adoption.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and AI champions on how to build and operate AI solutions in a standardized and compliant way.
  • Build and maintain reusable AI platform components that project teams can consume as internal services.

Additional tasks

  • Support AI pilots, innovation activities, and experimentation environments from a technical and operational perspective.
  • Contribute to best practices, implementation standards, documentation, and knowledge sharing for AI solution development and operations.
  • Support evaluation and integration of approved AI tools, platforms, agents, and third-party services.
  • Participate in architecture, security, data protection, and operational readiness reviews for AI use cases.
  • Stay up to date with developments in AI engineering, DevOps, platform operations, cloud services, automation, and relevant regulatory requirements.


Which brings us to you, the person with:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or comparable professional experience.
  • Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, software development, or IT operations.
  • Know-how in CI/CD, automation, monitoring, cloud platforms, and secure operations.
  • Hands-on expertise with Generative AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, and agentic AI systems.
  • Experience integrating and operating AI platforms and models (proprietary and open-source LLMs) in production environments.
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms for deploying and operating AI workloads (APIs, containers, model serving).
  • Further training in Azure (preferred AI Foundry & Azure services), DevOps, cloud, cybersecurity, agile delivery, or AI-related topics is an advantage.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and develop in the areas of AI technologies, governance, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Strong engineering mindset with focus on reliability, automation, quality, and service orientation.
  • Structured troubleshooting skills and ability to turn requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills in an international, cross-functional environment.
  • Fluent English; German or further Stadler languages are an advantage.
