Job Overview – Platform Engineering Lead
Innovative clean energy software company seeking a Platform Engineering Lead to own and scale the cloud infrastructure behind a battery energy management platform. This leader will drive platform strategy, DevOps, SRE, security, AI-enabled engineering operations, and eventually build and lead a platform engineering team.
Job Responsibilities – Platform Engineering Lead
- Own and evolve cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Lead platform architecture, reliability, observability, security, and infrastructure automation
- Drive CI/CD maturity, release automation, deployment standards, and engineering enablement
- Strengthen edge-to-cloud communications supporting connected energy assets
- Establish IAM, access controls, secrets management, and operational security best practices
- Implement and govern AI-powered engineering agents supporting deployments, reviews, incident management, documentation, and troubleshooting
- Build platform standards and eventually lead a growing Platform Engineering function
- 8+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or Cloud Architecture, with experience supporting large-scale production environments.
- Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes/GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, IAM, networking, and platform operations.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, along with ownership of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, reliability engineering, observability, monitoring, and incident response in mission-critical production environments.
- Strong background in cloud security, including IAM, access controls, secrets management, and operational risk management.
- Proven technical leadership experience with strong Python/scripting skills and exposure to AI-powered engineering tools, AI agents, or AIOps initiatives
- Energy, IoT, Industrial Automation, SCADA, or Operational Technology environments
- Protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, or ICCP
- Experience with Agentic AI, AI Ops, AI governance, or AI-enabled operations
- GCP certifications
- Experience building or leading platform engineering teams
