About Us
Icorium is an advanced separation technology company redefining refrigerant reclamation. Its proprietary separation technology, built on ionic liquid-based extractive distillation, hollow fiber membranes and pressure swing adsorption using porous materials, recovers high-purity refrigerants from complex mixtures that would otherwise be stockpiled, destroyed or released into the atmosphere. This scalable platform helps the industry meet evolving environmental regulations, reduce waste and advance toward a circular refrigerant economy. Founded in 2022 as a University of Kansas spinout, Icorium is headquartered at KU Innovation Park in Lawrence, Kansas, and has earned national recognition for its innovation, including National Science Foundation funding and multiple startup awards.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to build the software platform that powers a physics-based digital twin of our process equipment. This is primarily a programing role focused on building robust, well architected software. Familiarity with ASPEN Plus and chemical engineering is a strong plus, since the platform models real separation processes. This is an in-person role based at KU Innovation Park in Lawrence, KS.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, build, and maintain the software platform used to operate, visualize, and interact with our digital twin.
· Write clean, well tested, maintainable code across the platform stack.
· Design and implement data pipelines to feed live or historical plant data into the digital twin.
· Integrate digital twin models, including physics based and machine learning components, into the platform.
· Optimize machine learning models for performance and accuracy, and integrate them into the digital twin platform.
· Work with process and simulation engineers to understand model inputs, outputs, and validation needs.
· Apply software engineering best practices around architecture, testing, and deployment.
· Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues across the stack.
· Document platform architecture and functionality for technical and non technical stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
· Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Python.
· Experience building and maintaining software platforms, applications, or tools.
· Solid understanding of software architecture, testing, and data pipeline design.
· Familiarity with ASPEN Plus or chemical process fundamentals is a strong plus.
· Experience with or interest in machine learning methods is a plus.
· Strong problem solving skills and ability to work through ambiguous, evolving technical challenges.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally with R&D, engineering, and operations teams.
Why Join Us?
- Innovative Impact: Be part of a pioneering company addressing critical sustainability challenges in refrigerant recycling.
- Career Growth: Join a dynamic team where your expertise will directly influence the industry and company trajectory.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit their resume and a cover letter detailing relevant software engineering experience, and ASPEN Plus or chemical engineering background if applicable, to [email protected].
