About the Role

The Manager, Software Engineering (Moveworks) leads the front-end and back-end Moveworks solution engineering team within Disney's HR Products organization. The team supports platforms that power Employee Services for more than 200,000 Walt Disney Company employees.

The role owns engineering delivery, platform support, and technical execution for Moveworks. The manager will lead 4–6 Solution and Software Engineers, along with offshore and nearshore managed-service resources responsible for platform support.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong AI expertise, experience developing scalable solutions, and a commitment to mentoring and developing engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop 4–6 Solution and Software Engineers.
  • Provide coaching, career planning, and individual growth plans.
  • Manage offshore and nearshore managed-service resources.
  • Coach the team on engineering standards and Moveworks best practices.
  • Identify and develop future engineering leaders.

Platform Development & Support

  • Drive architecture, design, and implementation within Moveworks.
  • Oversee Tier 2 support for production Moveworks HR solutions.
  • Ensure high availability and rapid incident resolution.
  • Manage managed-service teams and ensure quality and accountability.
  • Partner with other teams to maintain data quality, compliance, and platform integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Product Managers, Designers, Platform Architects, and Solution Architects.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Lead code reviews, testing, and deployment of enterprise-grade features.
  • Align roadmaps and resolve delivery issues across teams.

Strategy & Engineering Standards

  • Partner with the Senior Manager to establish the Moveworks engineering strategy.
  • Balance platform modernization with stability and reliability.
  • Champion Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Act as an escalation point for technical and architectural issues.
  • Communicate technical progress, risks, and delivery status to leadership and business stakeholders.

Year-One Success Measures

  • Maintain high availability of the Moveworks platform.
  • Establish a clear and prioritized engineering roadmap.
  • Ensure offshore and nearshore teams operate against defined SLAs.
  • Establish documented career development plans for engineers.
  • Build strong credibility with Product and People & Culture stakeholders.
  • Launch at least one platform initiative that measurably improves employee experience.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience.
  • Moveworks Certified Agent Studio Developer certification.
  • 2+ years leading engineering teams and delivering complex AI implementations.
  • 2+ years managing or coordinating offshore and nearshore managed-service teams.
  • Proven experience working in a Moveworks production environment.
  • Expertise in integrated AI solutions.
  • Experience developing and optimizing REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Experience integrating systems such as ServiceNow, SAP, and Workday.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable enterprise HRSD platform.
  • Agile certification such as CSM, SAFe, or equivalent.
  • ITIL v3 or later certification or demonstrated ITSM experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated hiring ranges are:

  • Orlando, FL: $163,400–$219,100 per year
  • Burbank, CA: $171,600–$230,100 per year
  • Seattle, WA: $179,700–$241,000 per year

Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, knowledge, internal equity, and other job-related factors. The package may also include bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with medical, financial, and other benefits.
