About the Role

We're looking for a Chief AI Officer to lead AI strategy and implementation across a multi-country technology organization. This is a hands-on leadership role — combining technical/infrastructure depth with people and team management — reporting directly to the Board and CEO.

The mandate is to drive organization-wide AI adoption to fundamentally change how the engineering team works. Many engineers already rely heavily on AI tools rather than writing code manually, and this role will own accelerating and scaling that shift further — improving workforce efficiency and productivity through applied AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive AI strategy across a multi-country technology organization
• Report directly to the CEO and Board on AI strategy, progress, and impact
• Lead hands-on implementation of AI tooling and infrastructure across engineering workflows
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices to fundamentally shift how the org builds software
• Own people management and team leadership across a distributed, cross-country technical organization
• Partner closely with engineering leadership to modernize backend, frontend, and infrastructure practices around AI-native workflows

Required Experience

• Native-level Japanese; business-level English
• Strong backend engineering background: Java, Kotlin, Python
• Frontend experience: React
• Hands-on infrastructure experience
• Proven experience implementing AI within an engineering organization — leading org-wide AI adoption, not just personal AI tool use
• Strong team and people management experience, ideally across multiple countries/cultures
• Comfortable being a hands-on leader — this is not a purely strategic, hands-off executive role
